2013 South Fulton High School Football is off the chain!!!

By: Coach Brown

Langston Hughes High School and Creekside High School have represented South Fulton County, Georgia (Metro Atlanta, GA) in a major way during this 2013 Football Season!!!

“McEachern erased a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit and advanced to the Class AAAAAA quarterfinals with a 22-21 road win over Langston Hughes at Panther Stadium in Fairburn Friday night.
For the second straight year Hughes (10-2) was eliminated by the third seed from Region 6-AAAAAA, and McEachern (10-2) reached the quarterfinal round for the first time in 14 years. The Indians will play Collins Hill next week.” --- *From Prep Zone Sports: Glennis Curry
Congratulations on another successful season!!! Langston Hughes will continue to take their program to the next level!!! To the administration, coaches, teachers, players and support staff, job well done!

Undefeated Creekside beat North Paulding High School 41 – 14 last week in the 3rd round of the playoffs, and they are poised to take on undefeated Kell High School this upcoming Friday for a spot in the State Championship Game at the Georgia Dome!!!

Now you may believe that Creekside is all about the Berry Twins (brothers of All-Pro Free Safety Eric Berry of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs), but you would be mistaken. Creekside is stacked with talent on both sides of the ball and when they hit the field, it’s all business for  this coaching staff and players!

No doubt the team is being Spiritually motivated by the death of 11th grade standout De’Antre Turman, affectionately known as “Tre Tre,” who died from breaking his neck while making a tackle in a pre-season scrimmage game.

Good luck to Creekside as they carry the South Fulton football flag all the way to a victory this Friday night – December 6, 2013!!!

Urban Sports Initiative - "Urban Baseball Classic"

Thoughts By: B. Brown

On Monday, July 23, 2012, I had the pleasure of attending the Opening Ceremony of the "Urban Baseball Classic" held at the Atlanta Braves Baseball Academy (1600 Pryor Rd., Atlanta, GA)!!!

Let me first say thank you to Julia Jones, Andre' Payne and Wally Boyett for inviting me!

It was an awesome sight to see teams from across the country here in Atlanta, GA playing baseball at a high level, receiving academic and cultural exposure at the same time. I have never seen a Youthe Baseball Tournament encompass a Mission of this nature:

1) Showcase athletic events and innovative cultural programs.

2) Educational programs that stimulate growth.

3) Career development opportunities on the Business side of Sports.

I look forward to witnessing the growth of the Urban Sports Initiative and its positive impact upon the youth and their parents participating in their tournaments!!!

Visit their website at http://www.urbansi.org

Let us all play ball with URBAN SPORTS INITIATIVE!!!

High School Basketball Stars of 2013!!!

Thoughts By: Coach Brown

It's amazing how much High School Basketball has changed & evolved over the years!

When you read the article below, you will see exactly how things have changed when a "Student Athlete" can re-classify as a Senior so that he can graduate in 2013 instead of 2014. That means that Andrew Wiggins now becomes the #1 player in the class of 2013 bumping the super talented Jabari Parker down to #2!!!

I just watched ESPN's "30 for 30" story on Ben Wilson out of Chicago's Simeon High School where Derek Rose went & where Jabari Parker currently goes to high school. Ben was a phenomenal basketball player that never got a chance to play past high school because he was shot to death. He was the #1 player in the country in 1984 and if the media was anywhere close to where it is now, we all would have known about Ben!

Checkout the article below & meet Mr. Andrew Wiggins ....... the latest #1 player in the land!!!

Prayerfully, he & Jabari will be able to see their life & hoop dreams realized!!!

One Love!!!

Canadian hoops phenom Andrew Wiggins decides he’s ready for college now, reclassifies into senior class

Andrew Wiggins has been one of the nation's most-hyped basketball prospects for nearly four years, since he exploded on the AAU circuit while still a Canadian teenager. Since then, Wiggins has headed south to star at American prep schools, eventually landing at Huntington (W.Va.) Prep for what was supposed to be his junior season in 2012-13.

Now it'll be his senior season, thanks to a Thursday decision which shakes up the basketball recruiting classes of 2013 and 2014.
Wiggins made the announcement that he will officially "reclassify" himself as a high school senior, a move which pushes him to the top of the prospect rankings for most national recruiting services, including Rivals.com. According to Rivals national basketball recruiting analyst Eric Bossi, Wiggins move to speed up his high school career has been in the works for some time and instantly makes him the top prospect in the Class of 2013.

"It just happened," Huntington coach Rob Fulford told Bossi. "Andrew didn't even know for sure until a little earlier today when his parents got him word. He was waiting on his parents. That was the real wait with it. It was just a family decision."

That family decision could have a ripple effect on the prep recruiting scene, as all of the nation's top programs attempt to make sure that they can fit Wiggins on their rosters should he choose to matriculate there. The fluid yet powerful 6-foot-7 small forward has reportedly expressed early interest in Kentucky and Florida State, though that hasn't stopped the likes of legendary North Carolina coach Roy Williams from expressing interest in the latest and greatest import from the great white north.

As for the players who will be set back by Wiggins decision, none will feel the shift in focus more keenly than Jabari Parker, the Chicago (Ill.) Simeon High superstar who has been the media's focus as the top recruit in the Class of 2013 for years. Interestingly, Wiggins might even get a thank you for stealing the spotlight from Parker from the Parker family itself, which has long been cautious about the attention heaped on Jabari.

Now Parker will have to settle for being the second-most ballyhooed small forward in the senior class, not that such a move will put any kind of a damper on the heated chase for his scholarship signature. Parker has already scheduled official visits to Michigan State, Duke, Florida, Stanford and Brigham Young, though his father said earlier in October that Parker may wait to commit to a school until December at the earliest.

Regardless of the trickle down effects that Wiggins move may have farther down the overall and positional rankings, one thing is certain: It has made the Class of 2013 one fascinating group of top basketball prospects. After all, what odds could there be for having a Canadian and a Mormon as the top two prospects in the class?

Jabari Parker - The Nations Best High School Basketball Player!

Thoughts by: Coach Brown

When I saw Jabari Parker's picture on the cover of Sports Illustrated (May 21, 2012), I said, "Oh no, here is another young man being hyped up." Man was I wrong after reading the article about Jabari! Take basketball out of the equation, and the young man is still an outstanding person, period!

You see, it's very rare for a young man receiving the kind of attention that he is receiving being humble and more importantly, openly acknowledging his focus and commitment to his religious beliefs. After a game when he almost had a triple double, "The other varsity players were out in the hallway, talking to girls by the snack stand," says Flannigan (filmed every in-state basketball game played by Chicago's Simeon Career Academy during the 2011-12 season). "The best player in the city was being the water boy for the jayvee. It's hard to root against a kid like that. He's on top of the world, but he's incredibly humble."

The Sports Illustrated (May 21, 2012) article was written by Jeff Benedict ...

Last season, the 6' 9", 220-pound junior led Simeon to a 33-1 record and a third straight Class 4A state championship. In April he was chosen the Gatorade National Player of the Year, becoming only the fourth non-senior to win the award (after James, Greg Oden and Brandon Knight). Three months earlier USA Basketball had named Jabari its male athlete of the year for 2011, succeding 2010 winner Kevin Durant, an NBA All-Star. Jabari got the nod after leading the U.S. to the gold medal and being named MVP of the FIBA Americas U16 championship in Cancun, Mexico, last summer.

... Jabari belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. "Basketball is what I do," he says. "It's not who I am."

Jabari's father, Sonny, who played for the Warriors from 1976 to 1982, is not a Mormon, but Jabari's mother, Lola, is a lifelong member of the, their four children have been raised as Mormons.

After Jabari completes his first and most likely only year of college, he will have to make a decision about whether or not he serves as a missionary (customary for all Mormons if they choose to do it) and be away from basketball for two years. It will be a tremendously tough decision, but because of his unique maturity at his age and his positive family structure, he will make the best decision possible for his life!

HAPPY NEW YEAR from BAR-RED ENTERTAINMENT GROUP (BREG)!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR from BAR-RED ENTERTAINMENT GROUP (BREG)!!! 2011 was a great year and at the same time presented some challenges. We THANK all of the individuals, organizations and companies that did business with us in 2011, and we thank GOD for bringing us into 2012!

BREG is excited about the opportunities that are coming forth in 2012, and we look forward to helping our current clients and new clients reach their goals and objectives.

In 2012, look for awesome things from Nu Strata Music Group, Chipped Up Entertainment, X-tratainment Inc. & Hustle University! Artists that are bringing new music, live performances and videos in 2012 include Spade Kosta, Da Bad Habbitz, Grizz, Blushe, Chief Scrill, Lady X, Magnem P.I. & Jay L. Also look for new e-books for your Kindle (click on this Amazon.com link) directly from BREG.

We must address our youth of today that are still killing each other at an alarming rate. BREG is looking forward to the day when the tv is turned on and there are no reports of a young person killing another young person. Parents and adults, it is on us to love, teach & discipline our children so that they will love themselves first & foremost and learn to respect & love others. That way they won't believe it is ok to just end another person's life. What actually happens is that two (2) lives are destroyed. The person that has been murdered and the person that goes to jail. Think about it, it's a lose-lose situation. Young people have a responsiblity too! Do not take education for granted because it is your best option for bettering whatever situation you are currently in, and education will bring about positive opportunities for you. You have the ability to understand what is wrong and what is right. Think before you talk, and definitely think before you act; and you will save yourself and your family a lot of heartache and unwanted problems. Believe in yourself, you can do it and have a successful life!

On the political scene, there will be Local, State and National Elections taking place this year with the Presidential Election being the highlighted election. Do your research on the candidates and make the best decision that you can make for you and your family.

So as you have read, BREG is very excited about 2012 and we look forward to connecting with exciting people, organizations and companies this year and beyond! One Love!!!

Yours Truly,

B. Brown
